7 Facts you need to know about Birthiful

I am taking the LEAP!

I'm jumping in fully clothed and maybe even a belly whacker in the deep end! I hope I don't come out all red (belly) faced!

Blogging has been on my wish list for a while now and I’m finally facing my fear and I’m glad you’re here to witness me kicking its ass!

I have been brain dumping all my blogging ideas down and I have a huge stack I will be sharing with you in the near future, but to start off with I thought I would tell you a little about myself and Birthiful.

1: Hi I’m Kate.

A 35-year-old woman, mum, wife, midwife, dog loving and coffee addict!

I live in a home that is surrounded by boys! My two redheads, my husband Dean and my son Thomas and my three dogs. Harry our gentle soul (Pug x Shiatzu), Jack our athlete (French Bulldog x Maltese) and Charlie the smallest of all but the biggest attitude (Chihuahua x mini foxy).

2: I have always wanted to be a Midwife.

Although I first wanted to be a midwife because of the beautiful rolly, mushy, cuddly babies that I’ll be able to snuggle all day. How wrong was I?? Yes, there are babies to cuddle, but it’s a bit rough if I spend my time cuddling them instead of their mum who carried and birthed them. Once I got into the thick of midwifery I quickly learnt that what it really is about, is being with women. Go figure! The term midwife does mean “with woman”! The intimate, strong bond you form so quickly with women is outstanding and the highlight of my career.

3: I am passionate!

About empowering, educating and building lifelong friendships with women. I love all things full of carbohydrates. Spring is my favourite time of year, and mainly because it’s safest for my fair skin. My star sign is Taurus, I’m stubborn that I’m not stubborn (wink)! I love Offspring, but cannot stand the birthing scenes.

4: I had weight loss surgery.

Just over two years ago and to date it has been the greatest decision I have ever made and the most empowering experience. I even dare to say more than childbirth! I will be sharing more on both in future blog posts - so make sure you stay tuned! You can sign up here so you will be notified first!

5: I created Birthiful over two years ago.

But it was placed on the back burner whilst I battled weight loss and embarked on my pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey. Now that I’ve had first-hand experience my passion on all things mums, bubs and motherhood have grown more than words could describe. It has been an eye opening experience to see the lack of support available to mums especially postpartum. One of my big loves about being a Midwife is educating women. I am dedicated to providing women with knowledge and empowering her for childbirth, but now I am just as passionate and dedicated about providing women with support, education, empowerment and confidence for her postnatal journey to be full of peace, love and joy! If this rings true for you and you would love an Oxytocin (your happy, loving, joyous hormone) filled transition into motherhood head on over to www.birthiful.com to see the range of postnatal services I offer.

6: I am so excited, I could scream!!!

There is so much happening at Birthiful headquarters. Soon I will be offering Placenta Encapsulation, Lamaze Childbirth Education classes, Kanga Training, Infant Massage and online education and that’s just to name a few! So don’t forget to sign up here so you will be the first to know when they kick off!

7: I love to help, talk, read, listen and provide.

I would love for you to share your thoughts on what services you wish were available to you or are lacking during your pregnancy, birth and motherhood because let’s face it the more the merrier. Support is wonderful! Or I would love for you to share your stories that you would be happy for me to share on Birthiful so we can encourage each other, because is there anything better than the ladies representing! You can contact or send your stories, questions or even just shoot me an email and introduce yourself to contact@birthiful.com

It’s been a pleasure and until next time happy bump growing, power to your birth and joyful mothering!
