RAW METHOD
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)
The raw method involves preparing the placenta by ensuring it is cleaned thoroughly, sliced very thin,
and then placed in the dehydrator.
The placenta will be dehydrated at
160 degrees for the first 2-4 hours
and then 120 degrees until it is done.

The belief behind the raw method
of preparation is that,
by choosing not to steam the placenta,
essential nutrients and hormones are not damaged with high heat.

BENEFITS
Can have higher dose of the nutrients and hormones
High yield of capsules- they may last longer.
Potentially gives the mother more energy due to high nutrient content.
CONS
With a lack of heat, bacteria may not be destroyed during preparation.
The TCM method or also known
as the steamed method involves
the placenta first throughly being cleaned
and then steamed at a low temperature
alone or with ginger, lemon, and hot peppers.
After steaming for a short period the placenta
is thinly sliced and then dehydrated at
160 degrees for the first 4 hours
and 125 degrees until done.
BENEFITS
More likely to kill any bacteria on the placenta.
Used for centuries with TCM

Encourages heat for the postpartum mother,
which allows the uterus to heal,
increased blood to flow to
areas that need healing
Is believed to warm the body
CONS
Placenta is exposed to potentially harmful heat.
May get a smaller yield.
Balance your hormones
Increase milk supply
Combat Fatigue
Increase your energy
Assists uterus to return to pre-pregnancy position
Speeds up recovery time after childbirth
Replenish what was lost during childbirth
Bring your body back into balance
Prevent and treat the “baby blues”
Shorten postpartum bleeding time
Increase postpartum iron levels
Traditional Chinese medicine has known and seen the power in human placentas for thousands of years. Although slowly in our society we are starting to see the placenta as a powerful and invaluable part of the postpartum healing process. Now, more and more women are taking advantage of the benefits the placenta has to offer via Placenta Encapsulation.

What is Placenta Encapsulation?
Placental encapsulation is the practice of ingesting the placenta after it has been
steamed and/or dehydrated, crushed into a fine powder, and placed into capsules.
It can be prepared by one of two methods.
Raw Method or Traditional Chinese Medicine method.
On average placenta encapsulation will yield between 80-150+ capsules
(will vary with each individual placenta and size)
Capsules can be taken daily
Capsules have no expiry date and if stored correctly can be saved for
returning to work, future births or even menopause.
